To The Beautiful You

"A miracle is another name for hard work"

To The Beautiful You is a South Korean drama that was done in 2012. Its a romantic comedy written by Lee Young-Chul and directed by Jean Kl-Ssang who also directed Boys Over Flowers. (I shall talk about that drama in another post). This drama is based on a popular Shojo Manga Called Hanazakari no Kimitachi e by Hisaya Nakajo.
There is also a Taiwanese (2006) and two Japanese (2007/2011) versions of the drama.

Three of the main actors/actress
           Sulli          Choi Minho        Lee Hyun-woo

Sulli Plays the character of Goo Jae-hee/Jay Dawson. She is known for her feminine look and long hair she cut 60Cm of her hair for the role.
Choi Minho plays the character of Kang Tae-joon. He is also the main rapper and sup-vocalist of a popular South Korean R&B boy group called SHINee.
Lee Hyun-woo plays the character of Cha Eun-gyeol

The drama is about a young Korean girl called Goo Jae-hee who lives in the United States. She watches a young athlete in a competition and starts to idolize him. She then transfers to the same school as him in Korea but its an all boys school....

What will she do?
What's going to happen next?
If you want to know you'll just have to go watch it and leave me a comment telling me what you think :)
Or you can read ahead but there are a few *SPOILERS

Sulli (stage name) plays the roll of Goo jae-hee/Jay Dawson who the drama is based around. Goo jae-hee lived in the US and saw Kang Tae-joon in a high jump competition and determined to see him jump again, she transfers to all-boy Genie High School. I thought she played her role well and she really did remind me of Mizuki Ashiya. (Manga character) But I also thought on some scenes her character acted a bit dumb.

Choi Minho plays the roll of Kang Tae-joon. He is the athlete that Goo Jae-hee sees in a high jump competition. He then injured him self and announce he will quit high jumping. Then he meets Goo Jae-hee who turns out to be his new room mate but he dislikes Goo Jae-hee at first and finds him bothersome, but he finds out the he is actually a she. Kang Tae-joon starts to fall in love with her and decides to keep the secret to him self so she would not have to leave. I didn't think he was the best actor in this drama but it showed how much effort he put into his character. You saw him training and also working out. He looked like he had the physic of an athlete and when he started to smile (thanks to Goo Jae-hee) he looked cute.

Lee Hyun-woo plays the roll of Cha Eun-gyoel. He is a soccer player who is very active and likes to joke around. He has never been in love till he meets Goo Jae-joon as a guy and starts to question his sexuality. He accidentally walks in on Goo Jae-joon in the bathroom while she's getting changed and finds out that she is a girl, he feels betrayed and hurt that she never told him. And the fact that he confessed to him as a guy and after everything he was going through she still never told him. But he still goes out of his way to protect the fact she's a girl. Cha Eun-gyoel has to be one of my favorite characters in this drama, I haven't seen Lee Hyun-woo in many dramas but I think I may have to find out and give them ago, I just want to see more of him. He brought comedy to the drama and also seriousness.

To The Beautiful You looked like they were trying to follow the manga (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e) but they were also trying to keep the type of K-Drama romance.

Some of the couple scenes were sweet but if i hadn't of read the manga before hand i would of gotten a bit confused of when Kang Tae-joon started to like Goo Jae-joon. Its starts to look like Kang Tae-joon liked Goo Jae-joon as a boy, instead of him finding out that shes a girl first then started to have feelings for her. Eventually he finds out and you see his feelings growing for her and his jealousy towards Cha Eun-gyoel.

Everyone has there favorite moments and saddest moments while watching a drama. I would have to say one of my favorites moments were when Cha Eun-gyeol found out that Goo Jae-joon was a girl and even though he was hurt and felt betrayed, when he thought it was going to come out that Goo Jae-joon was a girl he ran to save and protect her.
One of the saddest moments was when Cha Eun-gyeol took Goo Jae-joon on a date when he found out she was a girl. He wanted Goo Jae-joon to take his confession seriously and at the end of the date he said he would take a walk and if he came back and she wasn't there he would give up. I already knew what was going to happen because i had already read the manga and seen the other Dramas.
Goo Jae-joon didn't leave she waited for him because she wanted to give him a proper answer.

I already knew what the ending was going to be like so it wasn't a big shocker to me. I did like how this K-Drama ended and i would give this Drama 8 out of 10. I could re-watch To The Beautiful You again and would not get bored of it.
