Boys Over Flowers

Boys Over Flowers is a South Korean live action drama that was done in 2009. Its a comedy, romance drama written by Yoon ji-Ryun and directed by Jeon Ki-Sang who also directed To The Beautiful You. The drama is based on a japanese Shojo Manga called Hana Yori Dango written and illustrated by Yoko Kamio. There are also a Japanese version called Hana Yori Dango (2005) and Hana Yori Dango 2 (2007), a Taiwan version called Meteor Garden (2001),  Meteor Rain (2001) and Meteor Garden 2 (2002). There are also two films Hana Yori Dango (1995) and Hana Yori Dango Final (2008).

Main Actor/Actress

Ku Hye-Sun plays the character Geum Jan-Di and is also a singer and director

Kim So-Eun plays Geum Jan-Di's bestfriend Chu Ga-Eul who is an actress.

The F4

Lee Min- Ho plays the character Gu Jun-Pyo and is also a singer and a model

Kim Hyun-Joong plays the character Yoon Ji-Hoo he is also an actor and the leader and main rapper out of boy-band SS501, which does the closing theme to this drama (Because im Stupid)

Kim Bum plays the character So Yi-Jung he an actor, singer and model.
Kim Joon plays the character Song Woo-Bin he is an actor, model and a rapper in a boy-band called T-Max who did the opening song for this drama (Paradise).

The drama is about a young girl called Geum Jan-Di who is from a poor family. She is then admitted to a privet school for the rich and famous. There she meets a group of 4 rich good looking guys who are known as the F4.

Why was Geum Jan-Di admitted to a rich school? Who are the F4 and why are they called that?

Main Characters

Geum Jan-  Di is the daughter of a dry cleaner, while she was delivering a uniform to a student. She sees a student trying to commit suicide and saves him. The she gets offered a scholarship to attend that school. She decides to accept for her family and the fact that the school has a swimming pool. While st the school she stands up to the leader of The F4 Goo Jun-Pyo and then becomes a target for bullying. She also falls for Yoo Ji-Hoo who is also a member of The F4.

I like Geum Jan-Di character she sticks up for people in need and she stands up for what she believes in, even after all the building and near death experiences she remains cheerful and determined.

Chu-Ga-eul is Geum Jan-Di best-friend who works with her at a porridge shop. She starts to fall for So Yi-Jeong after he helps her to get over her cheating ex boyfriend but So Yi-Jeong is another member of The F4.

Goo Jun-Pyo is the leader of The F4. He is the leader of Shinhwa Group one of the most powerful business group in South Korea. His family is also one of the richest and elite family in the country. He torments Geum Jan-Di after she stands up to him but then he ends up falling for her.

Yoon Ji-Hoo is a member of F4 and the grandson of a former president of Korea. He has a musicale talent and a driving phobia after being involved in a car accident when he was young and he was the only survivor. He is in love with Seo-Hyun but the eventully starts to fall for Geum Jan-Di and is always they to protect her. He was my favorite character in this drama and he ends up in a love triangle with Geum Jan-Di and Goo Jun-Pyo  

So Yi-Jeong is F4 casanova, hes a skilled potter and his family owns the biggest art museum. He starts to change his playboy ways when he realizes that he is in love with Chu Ga-Eul. he grows fond of Geum Jan-Di and they become good friends.

Kim Joon is known as Don Juan. His family runs a large successful construction company. He also has a strong connection to the mafia. He eventually becomes friends with Geum Jan-Di and becomes caring and protective towards her.

3)Geum Jan-Di's piano scene
Goo Jun-Pyo mother invited her to her sons birthday and the announcement of the engagement to his fiance to try and embarrass Geum Jan-Di. Goo Jun-Pyo mother introduces Geum Jan-Di in front of everyone and tells them that she will be playing the piano. Geum Jan-Di had no idea about this and got up and started playing. She doesn't know how to play the piano but she knows a bit that got her by and she also started singing. She sung about her feelings and i thought this scene was an emotional one. 

2)Geum Jan-Di and Yoon Jin-HooI love this scene because Geum Jan-Di wanted the second prize to send to her family. Yoon Jin-Hoo knows this and tell her they should enter but he is actully in love with Geum Jan-Di. I would of loved them to end up together the more you watch the more you see him care more for her.
1)The pool scene
When Goo Jun-Pyo gets amnesia Geum Jan-Di tries everything to help him remember but he never does and in the end he finds her annoying and wants nothing to do with her. This scene shows that this is the last thing she can do to get him to remember her.
I've heard that there is also a Boys Over Flowers 2 with new characters and a new story line. I cant wait to find out about this and give it a watch to see what its like. I loved this j-drama, the comedy, the romance, the hardships and  everything they go through to become happy. Lets see if the second one has the same effect on me as the first!
The first Boys Over Flowers drama is all about Goo Jun-Pyo trying to win Geum Jan-Di's heart. He is attracted to her because she is the only one to stand up to him over then his sister. But Geum Jan-Di has feelings for Yoon Ji-Hoo at first but the more Goo Jun-Pyo does to try impress her the more she starts to like him, even though she is confused about his actions at first. Once she realizes Goo Jun-Pyo would do anything for her, even change his life style she agrees to be his girlfriend. Then he is rushed away after his father collapse and texts her saying "Ill return no matter what. Dont move and wait for me. I love you" and after that i thought awwww its going to be a happy ending but no after i think it was 6 months Geum Jan-Di never heard from Goo Jun-Pyo. So she decides to earn some money to go see him to find out that he is engaged to someone else, but she becomes friends with his fiance and starts to really like her as a friend so she becomes confused on what to do. But after all the hardships and trying not to get close to each other they still want to be together. And they finally get back together but then Goo Jun-Pyo gets amnesia and doesn't remember Geum Jan-Di at this point im thinking poor girl! This is never going to work out and i was dying for her to get her happy ending!
